We Tried Supergoop’s New Mineral SPF Sheer Screen

Oh Sunshine, how we miss you!

If you’re like us, you’ll be packing up your favorite tote bag this weekend with cans, snacks, and a book to enjoy at your local park. But there’s one thing we can’t forget, not just when the sun returns gloriously again, but every day. Yes, you guessed it, it’s sunscreen.

However, when it comes to choosing the right product, you can be forgiven for getting confused in an incredibly saturated market, with a range of products to choose from, each with a different outlook.

If you’re looking for a product to start with, we recommend sticking to classic, tried-and-true brands known for delivering big, and under that umbrella is celebrity favorite Supergoop! After launching the wildly popular Unseen Screen, they gained a cult following.

Now, Supergoop! Mineral spf 30 has been introduced into their product range, promising to provide the sheer protection of the second skin by harnessing the protective power and skin-friendly ingredients of minerals.

what is it?

A 100% non-nano zinc oxide mineral primer that feels like a weightless veil, provides broad spectrum SPF 30, and filters blue light

According to the brand, the formula features innovative SheerMatrix technology that suspends sunscreen actives in a matrix, providing a complete sheer finish unlike any other mineral formula without compromising efficacy. It provides broad spectrum SPF 30 and filters blue light

Who is it for?

Sheerscreen is formulated for sensitive, normal to combination, oily to acne-prone skin.

Does it work?

I took it on a week-long trip to Greece and wore it every day, multiple times a day, to really test it out.

First, the texture is creamy and light with a whipped consistency. If you’re a fan of Unseen Screen, you’ll recognize the familiar lightweight texture of Supergoop! so well done. According to the brand, this product also doubles as a makeup primer, so if you like multipurpose products, this one is for you.

The aroma is buttery, similar to cookies, but definitely not unpleasant. My partner tried it and found the fragrance a little too strong, but it didn’t last long on the skin so it wasn’t too noticeable.

It comes in a 45ml bottle which is enough to properly protect my face from the sun for a week and I would say I have plenty left in my bottle.

I have very sensitive skin and I sometimes feel sore and tight when I apply and reapply sunscreen all day during the holidays. However, after a week of use, my skin feels completely normal, no redness or nasty burn patches are visible (the bridge of the nose and the tops of the ears, I’m looking at you).

extra information?

Skincare lovers, this is for you. This formula is enriched with botanical ingredients for skin-friendly benefits such as:

  • Bush clover extract, an antioxidant harvested in Korea, helps reduce signs of aging and minimize the visible effects of stress
  • Aloe Vera Leaf Juice + Squalane These botanical extracts help provide natural hydration, leaving skin smooth, soft and without a greasy residue.

    final judgment

At £34 for 45ml, it’s definitely on the pricier side when you compare it to some equally great high street heroes. However, if you are looking for a product that puts your skin first, is better for skin health and provides protection without compromising on quality, this is the product for you. I think I’ve transitioned from Unseen Screen, and now that I’m back in town, I see myself reaching for this every day.
