Fitness guru Denise Austin – who made his name as an aerobics enthusiast in the 1980s and is still thriving – shares some savvy weight-loss tips for Christmas.
The svelte star, 65, told DailyMail.com that one of the ways to maintain a flat stomach during the holidays is to cut out “sugar substitutes.” That means saying no to diet sodas and processed sweets that claim to be zero sugar.
Her tiny waist was put on full display as the blonde shared a new image of herself in a yellow crop top.

“I have a few tips to help ease that feeling and keep your bloated belly at bay. Some are as simple as eating slower and avoiding sugar substitutes,” she says.

“I eat very little,” Denise told DailyMail.com. “For dinner I might have salmon and vegetables. Snack is flaxseed with yogurt. I like avocado and eggs for breakfast.
“I cook very healthy dishes for my family. Lots of salads, chicken tacos, vegetable lasagna, casseroles with less cheese.
But she’s not always careful: “80 percent of the time I eat well, and the other 20 percent I don’t eat well.”
She was referring to the popular 80/20 diet, which allows for cheating. Some of the things she likes to use to cheat: carbs and sugar.
She also talked about exercising.
The answer for movement supporters to fight the bloat is to take small steps.
Still amazing: Her final tip is to eat plant-based protein. “To help keep your heart healthy, at this stage of your life, you may want to start replacing animal-based proteins with plant-based proteins, such as red meat. “I’ve been doing this for 40 years, and I’m not a fitness freak,” she clarifies directly in the interview. “But I’m always the same.”
This means exercising in some form every day.
“If you can exercise for 10 minutes at a time and do it three times a day, then you’re exercising for 30 minutes a day,” says the star.
She adds that it’s important to stay in motion throughout the day: “It’s all about circulation and movement. I even get up and walk around in place while I’m watching TV to keep the flow going.
Sounds like clever math and an easy way to get some exercise.
