game news Sonic Frontiers: The open world shows its gameplay, it’s beautiful!
It’s been a long time now that Sonic has been in the shadow of Nintendo’s mustachioed plumber, but it looks like the truth will soon become a dark memory. Open World Sonic Frontiers has just released some screenshots of its gameplay, and it’s awesome!
Visual and musical slap
Under the piano notes of Tomoya Ohtani, one of the main composers of the SEGA license, Sonic, our favorite blue hedgehog, makes an exciting entry into this brand new Sonic Frontiers joke… and what we can say is that This short excerpt blows the winds of freedom the series has never experienced before. It invites us to think of landscapes that easily recall the masterpiece that is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The environments are green, stretching as far as the eye can see and asking only one thing: to be explored.
This short excerpt also takes the opportunity to show us Sonic in action for a few seconds in this open world that already promises to be gigantic. We see him cross fields at full speed, run in a wheel like a hamster, jump from rail to rail or even defeat giant enemies.
Sega’s biggest project
Always expected at the end of the year, this Sonic Frontiers game is presented as Sonic’s most ambitious game… And when we look at the first images available above, we’re forced to believe. The game looks great, especially as Haruki Satomi and Koichi Fukazawa, CEO and CFO of SEGA Sammy (the publisher’s parent company), are doing their best to make Sonic Frontiers a must-have.
We set goals internally, while there is a correlation between high game ratings on external aggregators and high sales in Europe and North America. If the game gets high ratings, it could become a must buy and then maybe synergize with sales, so we are currently working on perfecting the game as its release date approaches.
With Sonic Frontiers, SEGA’s goal is to have the same impact that Sonic Adventure had in its time.
Sonic Adventure laid the foundations for Sonic games twenty more years after its initial release, so along the same lines, I really hope that this new game will lay the foundations for the next upcoming Sonic titles; This is the idea behind the challenge facing our team.
As a reminder, Sonic Frontiers is expected to be out by the end of 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, and the Nintendo Switch.
