Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a clever appearance at the 2022 military parade on Thursday as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London.
The “suits” alumnus, 40, stunned in an off-the-shoulder navy dress paired with a giant sun hat as he joined the Duke of Sussex, 37, at the major-general’s office at Buckingham Palace.
The couple appeared to arrive in a low-key fashion, but were later spotted chatting with other members of the royal family, including the Queen’s cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.
Markle was also seen hanging out with some young family members. She was pictured giggling with the Queen’s great-granddaughters Savannah Phillips, 11, Isla Phillips, 10, Mia Tindall, 8, and Lena Tindall, 3.
Meanwhile, the 96-year-old Queen and senior royals including Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton waved to onlookers from the palace’s balcony.
Markle and Harry were not invited to the group photo because they are no longer royals.
“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that the traditional military parade on Thursday 2 June this year will be limited to Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family currently performing official duties on the Queen’s behalf,” Buckingham Palace previously said in a statement.
Trooping the Color is the official celebration of the Queen’s Birthday, with more than 1,000 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians taking part in the parade each year.
Created in 1748 under King Charles II, the British monarch’s birthday has been celebrated every June for more than 260 years.
It wasn’t the Queen’s only birthday celebration, and she also admitted that she was actually born on April 21.
