The New York Knicks are reportedly hiring former Knicks guard Rick Brunson as assistant coach Ian Begley of SNY.
Brunson played nine seasons in the NBA, with a stint with the New York Knicks from 1998 to 2001. Since retiring during the 2005-06 season, he has been an assistant coach in the NBA and college.
His relationship with Tom Thibodeau runs deep, and Brunson spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls and then two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Rick Brunson also has a long-term relationship with current Knicks president Leon Rose, who has represented Brunson throughout his career as an agent for the Creative Artists Agency.
