Lil Nas X expresses his frustration after being nominated for the Zero Gamble award in a series of now-deleted tweets: ‘I just feel black gays have to fight to be seen in this world’

Lil Nas X was quick to express his disappointment at not being nominated for the 2022 BET Awards on social media…though he was quick to erase those nominations.

The 23-year-old musician has won two Grammys with 11 nominations since his debut in 2020, though he lost to Roddy Ricch in 2020 with only one BET nomination for Best New Artist.

Shortly after the nomination was announced, the rapper (born Montero La Marhill) tweeted on Wednesday, calling for the awards ceremony before deleting his tweet.

The openly gay singer also responded to a fan who asked him why he thought he should be nominated.

“idk was probably the top 3 hits of the last year and a critically acclaimed album…I think that should help me,” he said.

The song topped the Hot 100 singles chart for 19 consecutive weeks, breaking the records held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s One Sweet Day and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Despacito, both of which remained on the chart for 16 consecutive weeks on top.
