Google’s Pixel 6a may not be officially on the market yet, but that hasn’t stopped some reviewers from getting their hands on the device early, testing it out and showing some of the ways in which the lower-priced Google phone doesn’t quite match the Pixel 6 family.
Malaysian tech YouTuber Fazli Halim manages to get retail-ready Pixel 6a sample in early June and gave it Out of the boxbut now he’s back with a full review and we see a side-by-side comparison of the 6a’s fingerprint sensor with the current top dog of the line, Google Pixel 6 Pro.
While both phones feature optical in-display fingerprint sensors, the Pixel 6a’s sensor was consistently faster and more consistent in reading and unlocking the phone than the Pixel 6 Pro in Halim’s review.
Given the Pixel 6a’s low specs (and thus cost), it’s surprising that performance will be much better – but early signs seem to point to that.
Analysis: Tap
The sluggish and lackluster fingerprint sensor performance is just a nuisance pixel 6 And the 6 Pro is due to launch in late 2021, and Google has only partially addressed some of the issues the phone has faced with subsequent software updates.
With that in mind, it’s good to know that the Pixel 6a will use a different fingerprint sensor than the 6 and 6 Pro, Rich Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president of devices and services, said: comfirmed During Google I/O 2022, the Pixel 6a was officially announced for the first time.
While Halim’s video gives us our first look at the Pixel 6a, consumers will have to wait until July 28 to officially buy the phone, which swaps out several key hardware attributes on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro to improve Achieving a lower asking price of $449 / £399 / AU$749, making it possible to be one of the cheapest cell phone there.
Fingerprints are just one tweak the Pixel 6a offers compared to its siblings, which are smaller in size 6.1-inch 60Hz Full HD+ OLED displaya lower-resolution 12.2MP main camera (compared to the 50MP main unit of the 6 and 6 Pro, which makes them appear somewhat best camera phone currently on the market) and base memory and storage configurations of 6GB and 128GB respectively.
Where the Pixel 6a uses the same Google-made Tensor SoC, and of course a more responsive fingerprint sensor, paired with a lower price tag could be the perfect combo for some.
Again, we got pixel 7 After Google inexplicably showed it off at I/O earlier this year, it’s just around the corner – with a new PIxel 7a model likely coming soon, so the search giant isn’t making a decision about when to go for a new phone, it seems.
