Sony’s latest State of Play showcase shows which games will support the launch of the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) headset. A price or release date for the headset has yet to be announced, but at least we know what kind of games we can expect. For what it’s worth, Sony is promising a headset with 20 “major” games, so there’s still some work to be done to fill the void. We’ve covered the key highlights below, including the trailer.
Guerilla Games showed off some fighting and traversal gameplay for its upcoming PSVR2 exclusive, calling of horizon mountain. Just like the console game, there seems to be a lot of climbing and the visuals look great. I’m most interested in the satisfying-looking bow and arrow combat, and I’m curious how the game manages tricky VR controls in action against those mechanized creatures.
Capcom is working on Resident Evil Village Enable VR support on PSVR2 headsets.as Resident Evil 7, Sony’s headset is exclusive to Capcom’s first-person horror-adventure VR experience. Capcom didn’t reveal an exact release date for the VR content, but it looks like a good time. We see the protagonist Ethan being able to flip his weapon between his hands like a gunslinger, which is all I want to do when playing a first-person VR game.
Capcom opened this State of Play showcase with the first ever footage. Resident Evil 4 Remake. While the core game appears to be a third-person adventure (like the original), Sony has announced that it is working on PSVR2 content. However, it’s unclear if this will turn the game into a first-person shooter, like the VR adaptation coming to Meta Quest 2 in 2021. If so, at least it could be a much higher resolution and immersive experience.
Hello Games brings VR to life no man’s sky, its frequently updated space exploration game. There is already a VR version available for PSVR and PC users, which is likely to be an adaptation of the existing system. I’m not sure about that, though, just from the limited footage shown.
No virtual reality headset lineup would be complete without some sort of zombie-filled game. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners: Retribution Coming to PSVR2 in 2022. If you like open-world shooters and need a little inventory management and finding supplies, this might be worth checking out.
