Kabul (Pajhwok): Health experts say the articles published on the Internet about the negative effects of the coronavirus on human skin are correct. They also acknowledged an increase in skin conditions since the virus outbreak.
Some foreign websites have recently reported the negative effects of the coronavirus on human skin. Medical experts confirmed the impact, saying the coronavirus affects the entire body, including the skin.
The DW Persian news site published a report titled “From head to toe, which organs are affected by the new coronavirus?”. In addition to other parts of the body, it can also negatively affect the skin.
“It appears that Covid-19 has caused severe damage to the skin,” the report said. “Skin changes have been reported in many countries. Purple spots on the skin that look like marks of measles, chickenpox or cold sores.”
A new website called “Food and Drug Administration” affiliated with Arak Medical University also published an article titled “The Effects of Coronavirus on the Skin.”
The website shows that the coronavirus affects the skin both directly and indirectly. It said the main symptoms of Covid-19 included respiratory problems, but there was also evidence the virus also affected the skin and other parts of the body.
At the same time, a news website “Economics World” also reported: “The first symptom of the new coronavirus is found on the skin. Currently, more than 40% of Covid patients report skin changes as the first sign of infection.
“A new wave of coronaviruses is attacking vital organs in the body and causing skin infections, researchers say. Inflammation is one of the first symptoms to appear on the skin.
“Recent research warns that the presence of symptoms on the nail, such as a clear line, may indicate that the person has an infection and should be tested,” it added.
Health experts confirmed the reports
Dr Hashmatullah Faizi, head of quality control and training at the Kabul Afghanistan-Japan Covid Hospital, told Pajhwok: “The symptoms of the coronavirus can be seen on the skin, it itches and there are large bumps on it.”
According to him, most patients may have this problem. “Coronavirus causes depression and affects the skin. It also causes tired skin lines on the face. Often, these patients experience fever, loss of appetite, dehydration and skin fatigue,” he said.
He told all such patients: “In case of illness, drink plenty of water, especially water.”
Dr Mohammad Hashim Wahaj, the owner of Wahaj Private Hospital, said: “Coronavirus affects everyone’s skin as it causes itching and redness. Sometimes people infected with the virus experience itching for an hour or two, and occasionally after the body recovers. The itching will get better.”
Faridullah Omari, a trainer at Antani Hospital, agrees: “Covid-10 affects the entire body system, especially the skin, and causes itching that can damage the skin.”
According to him, after a few months, the skin returned to normal.
“People infected with Covid-19 should not use creams and makeup. They should use fruits that contain vitamin C, avoid self-medication and consult a doctor,” O’Mary said in a message.
