Guilty Gear Strive’s patch notes for version 1.19 seem to lower the chances of a Season 2 DLC reveal this weekend…but not quite

Will we get a new trailer or trailer for CEO 2022?

Although Guilty Gear Strive’s big Season 2 update dropped earlier this month, the balance and mechanics tweaks didn’t come with the new DLC characters, leaving players wondering when the first part of the Season 2 Pass will arrive.

With CEO 2022 hitting theaters this weekend, many fans were hoping to see the character announced in Strive’s finale, but the newly released 1.19 patch notes for the upcoming update suggest otherwise – but it certainly isn’t possible.

According to Arc System Works, the Ver. 1.19 patch will contain only a handful of bug fixes for May, Faust, Zato-1, Ramlethal, and I-No, with no apparent mention of any new characters.

Considering the update is scheduled to release on the upcoming Friday, July 1st, this seems like the perfect time to drop the first DLC for Season 2, if they’re going to be announced on the CEO.

The amount of effort and resources required to test, approve, and release individual updates to video games is relatively large, so it’s unreasonable to expect such rapid continual updates.

If new Strive fighters appear in our near future, ArcSys will put these updates together.

While the CEO is basically the perfect place to make a big announcement, it also makes sense that the studio might want to stop showing anything Guilty Gear for now so as not to take attention away from DNF Duel, which just released June 28 days.

We’re certainly not sitting here saying that Strive DLC won’t be coming this weekend, as there’s still a good chance we’ll end up seeing something, even if it’s further down the road.

Looking back at CEO 2021 late last year, ArcSys did provide a brief trailer for Baiken joining the GGST, while her actual gameplay reveal and launch will follow a full month later.

While ArcSys and Alex Jebailey have so far been quiet about making fun of anything, a very similar scenario could play out for Sunday night’s Strive final.

Since most of Strive’s character announcements to date have been attached to major tournaments, the next most likely place to see the game’s Season 2 fighters won’t be until Evo 2022 in August.

Obviously, we’ll know for sure on Sunday night, but we’re just advising you not to get your hopes up for anything big just yet.
