Guilty Gear Strive players are dying to see how much the game’s Season 2 balance patch will affect the highest level of play, and this weekend is the perfect testbed for that.
CEO 2022 will be Strive Season 2’s first major offline major, but how much does this rebalance affect which characters and players enter the tournament?
Even though every character has been groomed, things are still a bit like a Ramlethal and Nagoriyuki show considering they all have 7 players in the top 64.
Unsurprisingly, Leo’s 5-time tie with Zato-1 isn’t too far behind them, in fact Faust and BC|Apologyman represent the good doctors in the top 8.
While there were 2 duplicate roles in the final between Ram and Leo, there were still more competitors in the top 11%, including some former lower-level players like Jack-O and Goldlewis, each with 4 players appeared.
There’s only one character on the roster that hasn’t come that far at all, and that’s Anji Mito.
Compared to what we’ve seen in Season 1, it does seem likely that Happy Chaos and Sol’s nerfs have slowed them down a bit, with only 2 top 64s and 1 Gunners top 16 each season.
We’re sure fans would like to see more changes to the metadata so that Ram, Nagoriyuki and Leo are no more, but Season 2 is only available for a few weeks at the moment – so hopefully we’ll continue to see things happen in the coming months Variety.
