Dietitian shares the ‘magic’ lemon and water drink we should be drinking every morning

We all know what it’s like to have to drag ourselves out of bed in the morning because it’s too early and we don’t have the energy to face the day.

But according to nutritionists, there are a few things we can do to help our bodies deal with morning fatigue and ensure our mood is lifted, sleep is improved, and energy is boosted.

Aislinn Cambridge, a nutritional therapist and Pure Results ‘Minister 4 Happiness’, says there’s a drink she claims can “magic” to make us feel our best – and it only requires two ingredients.

She told RSVP Live that while we all know the benefits of drinking lots of water, you can actually make yourself feel better by adding lemon juice to a glass of warm water.

Experts say: “The one thing absolutely everyone should do from the moment they wake up in the morning is drink water, it hydrates the body and lowers blood pressure.

“If you want to be energized and feel good, squeeze a glass of warm water with half a lemon. It’s like magic.”

But it’s not just lemonade that can make you feel ready to start your day, because Aisling also says taking good care of yourself before bed can help you feel better in the morning.

Allow at least three hours between your last large meal and falling asleep so your body can fully digest food before resting at night, dietitians say.

She added: “If you’re eating and trying to fall asleep after an hour or two, it can wreak havoc because your body can’t digest it, it can’t rest and recover, and the two cancel each other out.

“Both your sleep and digestion are affected, and if combined, it can have a serious impact on your mood. I recommend leaving at least three to four hours after a large meal.”

Aislinn’s biggest piece of advice is to avoid artificial sweeteners whenever you’re craving sugar, as they actually have a worse effect on your body than natural sugar.

She explained: “Some people think it’s better to go ‘sugar-free’ when they’re trying to eat healthy, but it’s actually worse. So-called ‘diet’ drinks contain an ingredient called aspartame, and ours The body doesn’t have this ingredient.” Knowing how to process it, it has a negative impact on our gut and is more harmful, more inflammatory and more corrosive than actual sugar. “
