Fitness expert Denise Austin hasn’t been slowing down since her 60s.
The 65-year-old fitness icon shared a stunning photo from her kitchen on Tuesday, showing off her toned abs in a yellow crop top.
“It’s not uncommon to feel a little extra bloated this time of year, with all the rich food, desserts, and festive cocktails that go hand in hand with the holidays! ’ Austin wrote in the post. Some are as simple as eating slower and avoiding sugar substitutes. “
She added in a blog post, “While it’s unclear why [sugar substitutes] May make your belly swell, so avoid them if possible. Not just to keep your belly flat, but because some studies have shown that consuming low-calorie artificial sweeteners can actually make you put on weight. “

She also advises against chewing gum, which can lead to “breathing in too much air” and becoming bloated, and reminds people to drink plenty of water as it “helps flush excess water out of the body”. Drinking water through a straw can also bloat people with excess air, she said.
However, make sure you don’t drink too much carbonated drinks, as the bubbles will “get into” your stomach.

She also recommends monitoring your salt intake, and finally, reminding people of their weight that they need to get some kind of exercise, which could be as simple as a walk around the block.
“Sometimes it’s just physical activity that moves the stuff in your stomach,” she says.
For those looking to calm the stomach after eating too much, Austin recommends peppermint or ginger tea, which “are thought to help relieve a full stomach (and nausea),” or hot water with lemon.
For women over 50, “maintaining a regular routine can become a challenge,” she adds, “so start including other fiber-rich foods like legumes in addition to fiber-rich whole grains.” And beans, broccoli, berries and avocados,” she said in her blog, according to the Daily Mail.

“Turmeric, salmon, olive oil and even dark chocolate” can all promote heart health, reduce inflammation and help maintain a healthy weight, she adds.
Additionally, she recommends eating more plant-based foods.

“To help keep your heart healthy, at this point in your life, you may want to start replacing animal-based proteins, such as red meat, with plant-based proteins,” she writes. “Consider a meatless bean chili, throw lentils into a salad, or a fajita with tofu instead of steak.”
She told the Daily Mail that she eats “small portions” and “I cook very healthy dishes for my family. Lots of salads, chicken tacos, vegetable lasagna, casseroles with less cheese.”
But she says she only eats healthy 80 percent of the time, “the other 20 percent of the time I don’t eat well.”
The workout video expert added that she always makes time to work out and it not only helps her keep her weight off but also “feels good”.
“I feel energized after a walk and the endorphins start to flow, which helps with stress, anxiety and suppressed emotions,” she told the Daily Mail.

Even people with busy schedules can find time to exercise, she says.
“If you can exercise for 10 minutes at a time, and you do it three times a day, you’re exercising for 30 minutes a day.”
