As we all know, cats and dogs are mortal enemies. But some of them like to buck the trend and be best friends.
This seems to be the case with cat and dog stars in viral posts on Reddit’s r/aww forum.
Posted by u/vladgrinch and titled “Cats use dog ears as blankets”, the nine-second video shows a dozing dog with another furry friend hiding under one of the dog’s ears.
The person behind the camera then gently lifts the dog’s ears to reveal a sleeping kitten that stretches out to continue its nap.

The adorable video has attracted over 80,000 likes and nearly 300 comments, most of which are flattering or contain very well-meaning jokes.
U/almostgod_zilla commented, “That ear needs a do not disturb sign,” while u/ripyourlungsdave added, “If I were small enough to use beagle ears as a blanket, I’d be happy.”
Meanwhile, u/joremero posed the question: “What if we could breed an oversized beagle? Like an oversized beagle?”
Referring to the classic cartoon (where pets behave more predictably), u/tricksovertreats wrote: “Tom and Jerry could be so different.”
It’s actually not surprising that both the cat and dog in the video are napping, given the sleep time of both animals.
According to research published in the journal in 2020 Veterinary Science, cats usually sleep 12-18 hours a day. Likewise, a 2020 study published in the journal Animals showed that dogs sleep about 10-12 hours a day.
In any case, fellow Redditors couldn’t finish watching the video, with many expressing their delight in the comments section. U/grsims20 wrote: “When you sleep over at a friend’s house, he goes to bed without giving you any blankets.”
A more advanced comment is u/curiousjack6, which reads: “What’s the name of this cat? Mark Antony? Friend, Roman, countryman, listen to me – Mark Antony (from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar).
Some people associated with cats, including u/MrTickleMePink, wrote: “There is no greater sensory pleasure than the feeling of a dog’s ears, which I think may be why they are our natural best friends.” Likewise, u “Beagle ears are the softest material on the planet, so that makes sense,” added /dusters.
U/Nice_Shelter8479 commented simply, “cute”, while u/bier4brkfst concluded with their comment: “This may be the definition of ‘awww’.”
