If you’ve been thinking about getting a puppy, you’re not alone — the Kennel Club says the number of people welcoming new dogs into homes has surged by about 8 percent since the global pandemic began.
But with 221 different breeds of purebred dogs to choose from, there’s still a lot to do before you choose the perfect puppy.

But if you’re just looking for a loyal and loving dog and are content to curl up with you on the couch for the night, you might want to put certain breeds at the top of your canine wish list.
Here are 10 of the most loving and affectionate dogs, according to the American Kennel Club.
Their prominence on this list should come as no surprise to anyone who owns a Labrador Retriever, the most popular dog in the UK in 2020. They are known for being gentle, loyal and affectionate.

Bichon Frise’s favorite spot is in your lap, followed by curling up at the foot of your bed. Their sweet dispositions mean they’re guaranteed to get along well with just about anyone, but will reserve a special love for their family.

Initially gentle giants, Newfoundland needs a lot of exercise, but at the end of a long walk they are most fond of curling up – or around – their owners like giant teddy bears. They are also very gentle and loving towards young people.
